I recently had the privilege of talking to voters, as they left or entered the polling area, about Ranked Choice Voting, which will be on the 2016 ballot for Maine.
Many of the people that I talked to were excited to hear that if Maine voters approve this ballot question in 2016, officer-holders will subsequently be elected by a majority of voters.  I was able to explain that voters would be allowed to specify their first, second, and third choice for the offices, and their votes would go to their second choice, if no candidate received an absolute majority of the first choice votes.
Adopting Ranked Choice Voting in Maine will be another way that Maine can lead the nation.
