Weekly we see and read of examples of a highly conflicted political climate in Maine.
A slight change in the way we vote would ease the anger.
Ranked Choice Voting requires a candidate to win with at least 50 percent of the vote and lets us vote for our first, second, third choices. It's an instant runoff.
Elections would be more positive. Rather than alienate an opponent's followers, a candidate would want to attract them and be their second choice.
And a majority of the voters would feel that they are "invested" in the candidate who wins.
We would see more positive election campaigns and a greater effort among ourselves to come together and find solutions. Other good reasons to support this initiative are at FairVoteMaine.org.
